CANCELLED Women’s Petite To Medium Clothing Swap, SE Portland, March 20th

CANCELLED Note from venue:  The Community Room is closed to the public until further notice.
Share and receive awesome clothes! Women’s XS to Medium (approx size 0-8) – Clean out your closet, gather all the clothes in good condition that you don’t wear or want: Include accessories like shoes, hats, belts, purses, jewelry, etc. (but please: no ‘stuff’, used make-up, or undergarments). Arrive early and please limit to good quality – no rips or stains, or grease. If you have larger sizes or kids sizes, please take them to the correct swap for those sizes.

What: FREE Women’s Size Small to Medium (approx 0-8) Clothing Swap

CANCELLED: Potluck/Open Dinner, NE Portland, March 18th

Swap host Burt says this week’s event is cancelled.  Bert will let us know details and keep us updated about future potluck dinners as well.

Meet new people and share good food! Drop in on the Wednesday Potluck Open Dinner, every Wednesday at 6:30pm. Bring something to share! Come to chat, share food, build relationships. We’re also gathering clothes and working on having a clothing closet and place people can do laundry in our basement. I expect that will be ready for weekly use in 3 weeks (approx mid February)

CANCELLED: RSVP for the 15th Annual Spring Stuff Swap, Happening April 11th 2020!

03.17.20 It is with a heavy heart that we must cancel the April 2020 Stuff Swap. The Multnomah County Health Department has declared a statewide emergency and the health and safety of our swappers is of the utmost importance. Thank you for understanding the seriousness of this cancelation. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Out of an abundance of caution, and wanting to help “flatten the curve” (the exponential curve of coronavirus transmission in the Portland area), we have decided to cancel this month’s Women’s Size 6-12/Medium clothing swap at the Evergreen Community Church in NE Portland that was scheduled for March 14th.  We apologize to those who have looked forward to this swap.  Please stay tuned for news about the stuff swap in April at the Evergreen Church location.

Out of an abundance of caution, and wanting to help “flatten the curve” (the exponential curve of coronavirus transmission in the Portland area), we have decided to cancel this month’s clothing swap.  We apologize to those who have looked forward to this.  Please stay tuned for news about the stuff swap in April.

Check your closet, drawers and storage, wash clothes and other wearables you no longer love/wear/need (including cleaning up jewelry, purses, shoes, and other accessories) and bring them to the women’s medium size 6-12 clothing swap! This is a swap for women and teens who wear women’s sizes 6-12. No children or babies please.

What: size 6-12 medium women’s FREE clothing swap

When: Saturday March 14th, 2-3pm.

Swaps at this location are usually the 2nd Saturday of each month, and usually last about an hour. If a few women can start putting remainders into piles around 3pm, that would be appreciated!

Volunteers Needed for the Spring Stuff Swap!

It’s time to volunteer for the 2020 Spring Stuff Swap!  (Tentative date is Saturday April 11th. , in NE Portland at the Evergreen Church venue. When we get all volunteer positions filled we’ll put out the RSVP information on the Swap Positive Website. Volunteers assure themselves a place at the swap!).  Feel free to choose how you/your friends would like to help make the magic happen!

This is a fun tradition for teens and adults to bring useable items they no longer want, and do their shopping free! Due to space constraints, and to keep the venue from being too crowded, all attendees need to be teens or adults (no children) and you must RSVP to the special email that will be created just for this event. If you volunteer, you assure yourself a space at this fabulous free frugal event!

These are very important jobs. When signing up for these volunteer positions, we are creating a dependable community of people, and without that we cannot have these fantastic swaps!

Here’s the volunteer opportunities, and how many people we need. Swap Volunteers, please email me with the heading “2020 Stuff Swap Volunteer” with what job(s) you would like to volunteer for at swappositive.info@gmail.com. All volunteers are assured a place at the swap!

 Updated VOLUNTEERS POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Two people who will greet and sign in swappers as they arrive.  Good job for 2 friendly people who will keep each other company while they wait to sign in people. Arrive between 1:00pm and 1:15pm on day of swap to pick up clipboards.

Non-profit who will pick up remainders!  Or 2-3 Person(s) with van(s) who will pick up and give away remainders for free to a charity preferably who gives away the items, not sells them.  You can choose a charity of your choice, or arrange with one of the non-profits we’ve worked with in the past. Bring a van and pick up boxes/bags on day of swap between 3:00pm and 3:15pm, then deliver them and make lots of people in our community happy!

2 people who will bring boxes and bag/box up remainders after swap.  Arrive any time between 1pm and 2pm so you have time to put out your own stuff.  Start packing up around 2:45pm or whenever the crowd has thinned out, and stay until everything is packed up (est. 3:15pm). You will be part of a team of 5-6 people, and many times at the end of a swap you find treasures that were buried away.

Aubrey will take RSVP’s in advance. She will also help with the organizing of volunteers and pre-planning.   

Chris will bring his sound system and be the emcee, doing the main talking and playing background music.

Barb and Toby will bring the floor signs and put them down on the floor in rows with tape. I’ll also post swap announcements on Swap Positive, and do the initial pre-planning.

Shay, Elaine, and Shari will bring vacuum cleaner(s) and extension cord(s) to vacuum venue after the swap:  Estimate around 3:00pm – 3:15pm.

Jimena, Annie, Alaina, Denise, and Marla will help swappers put out their things.  If you see someone come in with a lot of stuff, ask them if they’d like help putting things out in rows, then help them. Arrive 1:15pm.
