01/—-/20 Sandy Seed Swap (Sandy Oregon), All gardeners are welcome to the Sandy Library’s 2nd annual Seed Swap! If you don’t have seeds to contribute this year, no worries. Our seed swap motto is “Bring what you have and take what you need”. Starting a 1:30pm-3pm in the Sandy library Community Room, Seedy Sunday is an heirloom seed exchange for everyone. Bring your organic, non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds to share. It is not required that you donate seeds to be able to participate. However, please only take the amount of seeds that you actually will use in your garden so there will be plenty for everyone. Seedy Sunday provides the opportunity to come together and exchange our non-GMO, non-hybrid heritage varieties of vegetable and flower seeds. Seedy Sunday Seed Swap takes place annually on the last Sunday in January.  Contact librarian Susie Jenkins for more information, at 503-668-5537, sjenkins@ci.sandy.or.us.

This is super awesome!! I am a huge fan of swapping and am so excited there is a place to organize and get swappers together. Thank you all so much for your time and effort.

  2. I went to my first Swap Positive event in Sherwood yesterday 2/22/14 and had a wonderful time. What a great concept and so well run! I was proud to be a part of it even if in just a little way with clean up.

    • So glad you got to participate in your very first Free Swap, and thank you for being some helping hands at the end as well! Hope you are ‘hooked’ by the free frugal fun, the camaradarie, the cleaning out what you no longer need/use/love and re-homing useful goods. Please keep coming – and tell/bring your friends as well:)

I’m in. I attended the Friday All-size Swap and thought it was a blast. Everyone was sooo friendly and civilized. I am a lifelong swapper, former second-hand store owner, and think “Free” is one of the best words in the Language. Plus size women have changing sizes and are in need of trading. I have some promotional experience, but am not long on contacts. Will love to be in touch with others with same interests – swapping household goods, gifts, handmade items, books, skills, etc.

    • Whoo hoo! I’ll tell you what…if you give me the basic details of the when, where, what, and your contact information about 3 weeks before your swap, I’ll post it here on Swap Positive, as well as send it out to all the other swap coordinators so they can share with their swappers as well. Would that help with your contacts? You can also share on your facebook, email your friends, and possibly put up the info at other places you frequent such as places of worship, some stores (like new seasons and fred meyers) have bulletin boards to post happenings, that kind of thing. But starting small is good, too, many swaps start with 10 people and grow from there as they tell their friends and word gets out. Here’s a link that might be helpful to you as you get the information/details together about your new swap https://swappositive.wordpress.com/about/start-a-free-swap/. Let me know how it goes:) And if you need help getting it started, let me know that, too, and I’ll post your request for a side-kick on the main blog to see if we can get you some partner(s)!

  4. Yeah, a plus sized swap would be really helpful. Sad that one of the swaps this weekend is the exact same time as the Portland Free Store..

  5. Hi there! I’m helping to organize the St. Johns 2011 Trash-to-Treasure swap/recycle/cleanup event on April 23rd. How could we partner to help get the word out? Details can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137914232939342

    Thank you!!

    • Lane – Thanks for the information about the Trash-to-Treasure event. Interested ladies can follow your facebook link above, plus I’ll add it to my blog roll after my April 2nd swap is done.

    • We have had the awesome support of our Community/Senior Center in Sandy. They put our swap information in the Recreation guide next to the various classes offered to the community. They have also put out the word on the marque in front of the center, on the city webpage, and even on the back of the water bill!!!

I put up a poster I made at our local library, then just TALK IT UP to everyone I come across.
Community Swaps are SO much fun!

  6. Is there a plus sized swap that goes larger than size 18? I have some friends who would like to attend one, but I don’t see the info. I know there are all sizes swaps, but rarely do I see any plus sizes.

    Thanks!

    • In the past there were like 3 plus size swaps, but all of the women volunteers either moved or had stuff come up where they had to stop hosting. Would your friends like to start a plus size swap? If so, have them check out the “Start a FREE swap!” link that shows up when they put their curser on the “About Swaps” link on the top of this page. When they have a day, time, venue, and contact number/email I would certainly blog about it on this site and hopefully between all of us here we could tell our friends and get them a ‘starter group’:)

    • Hi Nicole – we just put up a plus size swap (that’s included in the all size swap list above) coming up August 17th. Have your friends contact Diana for more information at mom@blackboxphotography.com
